As a designer, one always likes something different and when I was a young teenager, I liked a band called “The Inkspots.” If you have ever heard of them, you will realize they were no rock band! OK…never mind the music group, lets look at Inkspots as the new print style for fashion and home. This look is certainly expanding and is forcast to be popular for 2012. The patterns seem to be modern yet retro. The company StudioL2 Design named the technique below ” Ink Blot Cam”. I feel it’s a blend of two styles: batik infused with camouflage creating a modern textural new look. What’s interesting with this fun technique is how a designer treats and uses it on a product. The result is a pattern that is cool, mod and chic. I’m lov’in it!

What’s under your microscope?
As a designer, I love how design brings interest and excitement into our everyday lives. I strongly believe pattern affects our senses and that color and print have an influence on how we feel. Many of us pick prints automatically and subconsciously partly due to our heritage. I also believe each and every one of us have our own unique “ DNA design sense.”( well…that’s what I call it) This is where our creativity speaks out and attracts us to specific patterns. After that ” what is the inspiration behind a prints technique?”
Well, it all depends on the designers vision and what story they want to convey to us. Designers are inspired by various things like nature and fashion but really it can be anything that moves their inner soul which drives their creativity. But that is only one piece of the puzzle. The second step comes from innovation and how the designer wants to translate his story through technology. One print trend surfacing for 2012 is a new technique known as ‘under the microscope.“ Read On…

Hi, I’m Jaima, the queen of print design and I am very excited about my designer pillows. I am getting ready to launch a series of colorful pillows on line. It is a natural progression as I have a history of creating designer wallpapers and prints for over 20 years…it was bound to come to this! They are now on sale in Naples at Chesterdale’s Home & Garden shop. Great to accent a bed, couch or chair! My favorite is the Cockatoo print which was designed from a vintage bird book illustration. The lattice is modern but classic. If you love color, you gonna love my pillows! Here is a sneak peak…

Hello, I’m Jaima, Designer / stylist who is totally inspired by Dorothy Draper. She was such a fabulous designer….I loved her energy and her positive attitude. She accomplished amazing things. Her style was stunning, bold and colorful. She truly lived by her own design rules.
As Dorothy says ” It is just as disastrous to have the wrong accessories in your room as it is to wear sport shoes with an evening dress.”
Hi, I’m Jaima, a designer who loves anything to do with color and prints. I just happened to be out and about at Chesterdales Home and Garden shop, a great store in Naples that specializes in antiquities, resale, consignment and designer goods. I like this shop as it inspires me with new design concepts. While walking around the shop I had an AHA moment, realizing the next trend in design was PATTERN BLOCKING. Read on…

Hi, I’m Jaima, a designer who has been blessed with a natural design talent. I have the ability to put beautiful patterns and colors together which is shown through my jewelry, bags and interior fabrics. I can forecast what the new and exciting trends are going to be and I believe “pattern is the next big trend in fashion and home.”
I don’t live in a sterile world of painted walls. My rooms are usually wallpapered and lots of patterns are mixed into the decor through drapes, upholstery, bedding and accessories. I also love to decorate ceilings! Yes….that’s right ceilings. These designers love it as well.
